Program Overview: What is Internet of Things (IoT)?
Internet of Things (IoT) is a 24-hour instructor-led program for engineers and product teams building connected products. It covers IoT architecture and device fundamentals, sensors and embedded interfacing, connectivity with MQTT, CoAP and wireless protocols, edge computing and IoT data pipelines, and IoT security, device management, and scaling. Participants deliver an end-to-end IoT solution with a business case.
Training runs as 24 hours of instructor-led sessions with extensive lab work. Participants interface sensors and actuators, configure MQTT and CoAP connectivity, build edge computing data pipelines, and implement device management and security. Instructors with IoT engineering experience review every build and coach participants on architecture choices, reliability, and scaling. The program closes with the End-to-End IoT Solution capstone, where each team delivers a working solution plus the business case behind it.
IoT projects fail when teams nail the demo but cannot handle security, scaling, or the business case. Pilots pile up while production stays empty. This program teaches engineers to build IoT solutions that survive contact with the real world and justify their cost to the business.
The End-to-End IoT Solution capstone asks each team to do what most IoT projects never do: deliver a working solution and the business case that justifies it, covering device selection, connectivity design, edge architecture, data pipelines, security, device management, and scaling plan, all challenged by instructors on cost, reliability, and maintainability. The deliverable is a solution a company could actually fund and deploy. Engineers return knowing how to take IoT from demo to production, which is where the value lives.
Over 24 hours, the program moves from device fundamentals and sensor interfacing into deep builder practice: MQTT connectivity, edge computing, streaming pipelines, and device security. The capstone has teams deliver a live IoT solution with a business case and scaling roadmap, reviewed by the instructor.
