Leadership assessment FAQs.
A leadership assessment is a structured way to measure a leader’s capability, potential and derailment risk using validated leadership tests, exercises and feedback. Results are compared with clear leadership competencies, so promotion, succession and development decisions rest on consistent evidence.
Edstellar’s leadership assessment measures leadership skills across capability, potential and risk: how a leader sets direction, builds teams and delivers results; the learning agility, drive and judgment behind leadership potential; and the derailers that can surface under pressure. Edstellar’s own Zenith assessment covers twelve leadership competencies in four clusters, from leading strategy to leading results, and tools such as Diamond Leadership add use of power and influence.
Edstellar selects from tools including Talogy InView Leadership, Talogy Caliper, Saville Wave, Hogan (HPI, HDS and MVPI), Talogy VirtualAC, Talogy 360, Diamond Leadership, Everything DiSC Work of Leaders and EIP3, alongside its own Zenith leadership assessment. Each tool is chosen for the leadership role and the decision it supports.
Leadership assessments combine capability, potential and derailment risk for each successor, so you can see who is ready now, who is ready later and what each person needs to develop for a critical role.
Edstellar looks beyond current performance to learning agility, drive and judgment, using validated potential tools and structured evidence, so high-potential identification is fair and consistent across the business.
Yes. Tools such as Talogy InView Leadership, Talogy Caliper and Hogan suit leadership selection, executive selection and executive recruitment when combined with structured interviews. Development tools such as Diamond Leadership and Everything DiSC Work of Leaders are used for growth and coaching rather than selection.
Derailers are tendencies that can surface under pressure, such as overconfidence or excessive caution, and limit a leader’s effectiveness. Instruments such as Hogan identify them early, so they can be addressed through coaching and development.
A leadership assessment measures capability, potential and risk with tests and exercises. 360-degree feedback shows how a leader’s behavior is experienced by their manager, peers and reports. Edstellar often combines both, and covers 360-degree feedback on its own page.
Edstellar uses tools with published reliability and validity evidence, standardized administration, several sources of evidence and trained interpretation, and reviews results for adverse impact between groups. No leadership decision rests on a single score.
Leaders complete most online leadership assessments in a single sitting, remotely or on site. A typical leadership assessment engagement takes about six weeks from scoping to development plans, depending on the number of leaders and the tools used.
Leadership assessment data is collected only for the agreed purpose, access is limited to agreed stakeholders, and individual results are reported under the confidentiality terms set at scoping. Edstellar holds ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification for information security management.
Cost depends on the number of leaders assessed, the tools chosen, whether exercises or 360 feedback are included, and how much debriefing and coaching you need. Edstellar scopes each engagement before quoting, so you pay only for the evidence your decision requires.
