Program Overview: What is ISO/IEC 27001 Information Security Management?
ISO/IEC 27001 Information Security Management is Edstellar's instructor-led program for security, risk, compliance, and IT leaders building an information security management system to the ISO 27001 standard. It covers the standard's clauses, risk assessment and treatment, Annex A controls, and the Statement of Applicability. Your teams learn to design, document, and operate an ISMS that stands up to certification. Ideal for organizations pursuing certification or strengthening their security governance.
Training is hands-on from the first module. Participants run a risk assessment on a realistic enterprise scenario, draft treatment plans, and map Annex A controls to the Statement of Applicability in guided working sessions. Instructors coach each team through clause interpretation, audit evidence, and internal-audit practice, giving direct feedback on their ISMS documentation. Six modules move from foundations through clauses, risk, controls, and certification readiness. It closes with an end-to-end ISMS implementation capstone reviewed by the instructor.
Too many organizations run security as a patchwork of tools and policies with no management system binding them together, which is exactly what fails an audit. Certification attempts stall on undocumented risks, orphaned controls, and evidence that does not exist. This program teaches your teams to build the ISMS the right way: governed, documented, risk-driven, and ready for an external auditor.
The capstone has each team deliver a working ISMS implementation for the scenario enterprise: context, risk register, treatment plan, Statement of Applicability, and audit evidence pack, defended in a certification-readiness review with the instructor. Your leaders return with an ISMS blueprint they can adapt to their own organization and the confidence to face an auditor.
Over 24 hours, the program moves from ISO 27001 foundations and the clause 4 to 10 management system into deep hands-on work: context and scope definition, risk assessment methodology, Annex A control selection across the organizational, people, physical, and technological themes, SoA drafting, internal audit technique, and certification readiness. The closing capstone asks each team to build a complete ISMS for a fictional enterprise and defend it in a mock audit, so skills transfer directly to your certification program.
