Program Overview: What is Fundamentals of Accounting?
Fundamentals of Accounting is Edstellar's instructor-led program for non-finance professionals and new hires who need real accounting fluency. Participants master the accounting equation, work the complete accounting cycle, and build the three financial statements from scratch. The program closes with a full-period set of books turned into a decision pack in the capstone.
Learning is practice-first across six modules. Participants journal transactions, close periods, and read cash flow and working capital mechanics in guided exercises. Instructors review every set of books, coaching learners on the error detection and ratio reading that turn numbers into insight. The final module is the capstone: take full-period books through to a decision pack and present it in review.
Accounting illiteracy is expensive: managers who cannot read statements misjudge performance, miss cash problems, and make decisions on instinct instead of evidence. Most business training skips the mechanics, leaving people nodding at numbers they do not understand. This program builds genuine fluency, from debits and credits to the story the statements tell.
The capstone is the Full-Period Books to Decision Pack. Each participant closes a complete accounting period, produces the three statements, and builds a decision pack with ratios and findings, defended before reviewers. They return reading financial statements with real understanding, a skill that changes how they run their part of the business.
Each module pairs short concept sessions with guided hands-on labs on realistic ledgers, so participants practice journals, statements, and ratios on the same data they will meet at work. By the capstone, every team member can process a full period and explain what the numbers mean.

Build Accounting Confidence From Journal Entries to Financial Decision Packs
Edstellar develops accounting fluency by taking a practice business through a complete reporting period. Participants record and adjust transactions, prepare statements, and reconstruct operating cash flow before investigating errors and interpreting ratios. The final decision pack is reviewed for reconciled figures, clear accounting explanations, and conclusions supported by the completed books.
- Step 01
Consult
We identify difficulties recording transactions, understanding statement relationships, or interpreting ratios, establishing a starting point that does not assume prior accounting study.
- Step 02
Plan
The accounting equation and journal entries lead into the close cycle, financial statements, cash flow, and error detection before the full-period decision pack.
- Step 03
Align
We align accounting facilitation with finance and budget-owner responsibilities, using first-principles explanations and suitable workbooks to support mixed levels of financial familiarity.
- Step 04
Customize
Sample company transactions and deliberately flawed books reflect familiar reporting situations, allowing participants to practice adjustments and error investigation without using confidential accounts.
- Step 05
Execute
Participants post entries, close a practice period, and reconcile statements, receiving feedback on classification, adjusting entries, cash-flow relationships, and explanations of detected errors.
- Step 06
Evaluate
We assess the completed books and financial health memo for balanced records, reconciled statements, accurate ratios, and interpretations that follow from the accounting evidence.
