Program Overview: What is Project Controls, Scheduling and Earned Value?
Project Controls, Scheduling & Earned Value is Edstellar's instructor-led program for project controls engineers, schedulers, and delivery leads who need truth about project health. Participants master project controls foundations, critical path scheduling, earned value management in depth, cost control and change management, and delivery dashboards and KPIs. The program turns status reporting into genuine delivery discipline.
Training is hands-on from the first module. Your team builds critical path schedules from real project data, runs earned value calculations across scenarios, and constructs delivery dashboards in guided labs. Instructors coach participants through schedule logic and variance analysis, reviewing every exercise with direct feedback on method and interpretation. The program closes with a capstone where the team builds a full controls pack for a troubled project, diagnosing it with data.
Most projects look green until they are suddenly red, because schedules nobody maintains and EV numbers nobody trusts hide the truth. This program teaches your team to schedule with honest logic, measure earned value rigorously, and control cost and change before variances compound. Your projects stop surprising you and start telling the truth early.
The capstone is a five-hour controls pack build: each team inherits a troubled project, schedule in disarray, cost overruns mounting, stakeholders demanding answers. The deliverable is a full controls pack, rebuilt schedule with critical path logic, earned value analysis with forecasts, variance explanations, and a recovery recommendation the team defends in review. The review tests whether the team can diagnose honestly and prescribe credibly, because the hardest controls skill is telling a sponsor the truth.
Participants learn to build work breakdown structures, develop resource-loaded CPM schedules, compute and interpret PV, EV, AC, SPI, and CPI, forecast final costs, manage baselines and change, and design executive delivery dashboards. Every module pairs live instruction with guided hands-on labs on realistic project scenarios, so teams leave with schedules, EVM models, and reporting packs they can apply to their own projects immediately.

Explain Project Health Through Integrated Schedules, Earned Value, and Recovery Evidence
Edstellar helps project teams connect schedule and cost information with credible control decisions. Participants build a resource-loaded critical-path schedule, calculate earned-value measures, and analyze changes before preparing executive reporting. A troubled-project recovery pack tests whether forecasts, baseline decisions, and proposed actions are supported by consistent project evidence.
- Step 01
Consult
We review planning and cost-tracking responsibilities, schedule familiarity, and reporting difficulties to identify gaps in critical-path reasoning, earned-value interpretation, or change control.
- Step 02
Plan
We establish controls foundations before resource-loaded CPM scheduling and earned-value calculations, then integrate cost, risk, changes, and executive dashboards in the recovery case.
- Step 03
Align
We align project controls expertise with participant tools and reporting context, providing foundational earned-value support alongside practical schedule and forecast interpretation exercises.
- Step 04
Customize
We adapt sample project schedules and performance records to familiar delivery environments, introducing cost changes and progress inconsistencies that require investigation before recovery recommendations.
- Step 05
Execute
Participants calculate SPI, CPI, and EAC, analyze critical paths, and assess baseline changes, receiving feedback on data consistency, forecast assumptions, and control implications.
- Step 06
Evaluate
We assess the controls and recovery pack for accurate calculations, traceable baseline decisions, credible schedule and cost forecasts, and clearly evidenced priorities for corrective action.
