Program Overview: What is Credit Risk Modeling Corporate Training?
Credit Risk Modeling Corporate Training is a 28-hour instructor-led program for modelling, risk, finance, and validation teams that build and challenge credit risk models. Across seven modules, participants work through credit risk foundations and the regulatory landscape, credit data sourcing and feature engineering, probability of default models and scorecards, LGD and EAD estimation, model validation with backtesting and stress testing, and IFRS 9 expected credit loss with portfolio integration. It closes with an end-to-end credit risk model build where each team develops a working model on realistic data.
Training follows the full model lifecycle with hands-on building at every stage: four practice sessions alternate with instructor walkthroughs, so participants prepare credit datasets, develop PD scorecards, estimate LGD and EAD parameters, and run backtesting and stress tests themselves. Each exercise uses realistic data and methods the team would defend in validation, with the instructor reviewing model logic, challenging assumptions, and coaching the supervisory documentation standard. Peer review rounds sharpen every model before the next stage begins. The program culminates in a five-and-a-half-hour capstone where teams deliver a complete end-to-end credit risk model build.
Models built casually cost the bank twice: first in validation reviews they cannot pass, then in the real losses their blind spots miss. Data shortcuts, untested scorecards, and documentation written as an afterthought make every regulatory challenge harder than it needs to be. This program builds the discipline of the full lifecycle: clean data preparation, careful parameter estimation, honest backtesting, and documentation that anticipates the validator's questions before they are asked.
The capstone model build is the program's centerpiece: each team produces a working credit risk model covering data preparation, PD scorecard development, LGD and EAD estimation, validation and backtesting, and IFRS 9 ECL integration, with documentation written to supervisory standard. The instructor probes every component the way an independent validator would, so gaps surface while there is still time to fix them. What modelling and validation teams take home is a shared methodology: feature engineering checklists, scorecard templates, backtesting routines, and documentation habits that make the next model stronger and the next validation review calmer.
The program Upskills your modeling and validation teams across the full model lifecycle: data preparation, scorecard development, parameter estimation, backtesting, stress testing, and supervisory documentation. Collaboration between risk, finance, and validation improves as every team works the same methods and datasets. The result is modeling Capability your business can rely on: better Performance in validation reviews and Day-to-day Work grounded in methods that hold up under scrutiny.

Prerequisites: Credit risk, validation, finance, and reporting professionals benefit most, as do managers who own provisioning or model risk. Basic familiarity with lending portfolios and spreadsheets helps but is not required: the program builds from the expected loss framework up. No prior modeling experience is needed. Sessions adapt to each cohort's portfolios, data, and regulatory context.
Credit Analyst to Model Risk Owner
The program moves your team from credit risk foundations to independent model building and defense, with every level practiced in hands-on labs.
One program that grows with credit careers, from expected loss basics to building and defending a model that stands up to supervisory review.
Mixed cohort, or several teams at once?
We can tailor the training to different teams, roles, and experience levels within the same program.

Where this Training Fits in Your Team's learning path.
Credit risk modelling starts with understanding credit itself. After credit analysis, this course builds PD, LGD and EAD models. Machine learning methods follow, and model risk management under SR 11-7 and SS1/23 closes the path by governing the models your team builds.
Why Choose Edstellar as Your Credit Risk Modeling Training Provider
Edstellar partners with banking teams to build credit modeling capability: real portfolio data, hands-on labs, and validation-ready methods your supervisors accept.

Develop Credit Risk Models With Traceable Data and Critical Validation
Edstellar connects expected-loss foundations with portfolio preparation, PD scorecards, and LGD and EAD estimation. Participants compare models, inspect backtesting results, and integrate lifetime ECL calculations. The final model defense examines data quality, calibration, assumptions, and documentation, emphasizing reviewable evidence rather than treating a training model as approved for lending decisions.
- Step 01
Consult
We explore portfolio and modeling responsibilities to identify gaps in data preparation, scorecard development, loss estimation, validation, and expected-credit-loss integration.
- Step 02
Plan
We establish expected loss before data cleaning and features, then PD models, LGD and EAD, validation, and IFRS 9 integration within the model build.
- Step 03
Align
We align credit-modeling instruction with risk, finance, reporting, and validation roles, providing foundations and tools appropriate to the cohort's portfolio and spreadsheet experience.
- Step 04
Customize
We tailor synthetic portfolio extracts, bureau-style features, and stress scenarios to relevant lending cases while separating training analysis from actual borrower decisions.
- Step 05
Execute
Participants calibrate logistic scorecards, estimate losses, and compare challenger models, receiving feedback on data quality, assumptions, backtesting evidence, and lifetime-loss calculations.
- Step 06
Evaluate
We assess the full model for traceable inputs, justified features and parameters, documented validation findings, and clear explanations of uncertainty and use limitations.
