Program Overview: What is Cyber Incident Response and Crisis Simulation?

Cyber Incident Response & Crisis Simulation is a 24-hour instructor-led program for incident responders, security leaders, and crisis teams who must act decisively when incidents strike. Participants design response plans, build and facilitate crisis simulations, practice detection, triage, and containment in guided labs, and coordinate stakeholders under pressure. It is built for teams that own the first hours of a breach.

Training runs as live sessions where every concept is drilled under simulated pressure. Teams run detection and containment labs, design their own crisis simulation scenarios, and facilitate full exercises with injects that force real decisions. Instructors with incident command experience coach each drill, dissecting response sequencing, communication discipline, and containment calls. The program closes with a capstone: an end-to-end crisis simulation run against the team's own environment.

Most incident response plans fail at the first real alert because they were written, never rehearsed, and the team has never made a containment call together. This program builds that muscle memory: detection to triage to containment, practiced until it is reflex, plus the crisis communication discipline that keeps stakeholders aligned. Teams stop reading playbooks and start running them.

The capstone is an end-to-end crisis simulation, custom-built for the team's own stack: a realistic attack scenario, live detection and triage, containment decisions under time pressure, and stakeholder communication throughout. Reviewers score response time, decision quality, and coordination. What participants walk away with is a battle-tested response capability and the proof, from their own performance data, that the team can handle the real thing.

Six modules and 24 hours: response foundations, simulation design, detection and containment labs, threat modeling in response, crisis communication, and a capstone end-to-end crisis simulation. Every module pairs concepts with a guided lab, so each technique is practiced. It closes with a capstone where your team runs a full crisis simulation, reviewed by the instructor.

Practice Cyber Incident Decisions Through Coordinated Crisis Simulations and Review

Edstellar connects incident-response planning with simulation design, technical triage, and stakeholder coordination. Participants rehearse a controlled intrusion scenario and examine how response choices affect the wider crisis. The final exercise review assesses evidence, handoffs, and communication, turning observed gaps into specific improvements to plans and response practice.

  1. Step 01

    Consult

We explore response responsibilities and existing plans to identify gaps in readiness, simulation design, detection triage, containment choices, and crisis coordination.

  2. Step 02

    Plan

We establish response foundations before scenario design and technical containment, then threat-informed controls and stakeholder practice within the end-to-end crisis simulation.

  3. Step 03

    Align

We align incident and crisis facilitation with responders, security leaders, and coordination teams, matching exercise complexity to tooling familiarity and response maturity.

  4. Step 04

    Customize

We tailor fictional intrusion injects, organizational dependencies, and stakeholder questions to relevant plans while retaining explicit exercise boundaries and safe containment practice.

  5. Step 05

    Execute

Participants triage alerts, apply response controls, and coordinate crisis decisions, receiving feedback on evidence, escalation timing, communication consistency, and technical-organizational handoffs.

  6. Step 06

    Evaluate

We assess the simulation for justified triage and containment, coordinated responsibilities, clear stakeholder communication, and improvement actions grounded in the exercise evidence.
