Program Overview: What is Takaful and Islamic Insurance?
Takaful & Islamic Insurance is Edstellar's instructor-led program for insurance teams entering or scaling takaful operations. Participants master takaful foundations and business models, Shariah compliance in practice, contributions and underwriting, claims and surplus management, and digital operations. The focus stays on working skill: running a takaful operation the Shariah-compliant way.
Training is hands-on across 32 hours with eight guided practice sessions. Teams work through Shariah-compliance checks, contribution and underwriting cases, and claims and surplus scenarios in coached sessions that mirror real takaful operations. Instructors coach product design, digital distribution, and compliance judgment, reviewing every exercise with direct feedback. The program closes with a six-hour capstone: a full takaful operation simulation run end to end.
Conventional insurance habits die hard inside takaful operations: interest-based assumptions creep into products, surplus handling drifts from Shariah principles, and compliance becomes a checkbox. This program teaches teams to operate takaful as takaful, with Shariah reasoning embedded in every underwriting, claims, and product decision. Every scenario is practiced, so compliant operations become reflex rather than review.
The capstone runs the team through a complete simulated takaful operation: setting up the model, underwriting contributions, handling claims, managing surplus, and facing a Shariah compliance review of every decision. What the team leaves with is a full cycle of takaful operations under their belts, plus the compliance judgment to run the real thing without second-guessing the Shariah basis.
The program goes deeper with guided labs on contribution pricing, Shariah screening checklists, claims assessment, and surplus calculation. Teams practice with product disclosure documents, compliance workflows, and distribution scenarios, so the skills transfer directly to day-to-day work in takaful operations, Shariah compliance, and client servicing. The content is tailored to your team's training needs and focuses on the capabilities that improve performance and collaboration.

Where this Training Fits in Your Team's learning path.
Takaful follows insurance basics and Shariah governance. Your team needs to know how conventional insurance works and how Shariah oversight operates, as in Malaysia's framework, before running Takaful, and capital management then keeps Takaful funds sound.

Connect Takaful Principles With Clear Fund and Operating Decisions
Edstellar develops takaful capability through model, underwriting, claims, and distribution scenarios. Participants examine sample fund arrangements, compare operational choices, and connect product principles with digital workflows. A complete simulation is reviewed for coherent assumptions, traceable calculations, and a clear explanation of governance and participant-related decisions.
- Step 01
Consult
We discuss insurance familiarity, operational responsibilities, and takaful knowledge to identify learning priorities in fund models, contributions, claims, surplus, and distribution workflows.
- Step 02
Plan
Islamic-insurance foundations lead into business models, Shariah considerations, underwriting, claims, and products before distribution processes and an integrated takaful operation simulation.
- Step 03
Align
Takaful operations and product expertise supports insurance, banking, and finance colleagues, connecting unfamiliar model concepts with their existing service and financial-process responsibilities.
- Step 04
Customize
Fictional funds, policy scenarios, and participant profiles create realistic calculations and workflow decisions without using personal financial information or recommending actual insurance purchases.
- Step 05
Execute
Participants compare wakalah and mudarabah cases, examine claims and surplus, and map onboarding, receiving feedback on consistency, calculations, governance, and operational clarity.
- Step 06
Evaluate
We assess the simulation for coherent fund-model treatment, traceable contribution and claims decisions, appropriate governance consideration, and a clear explanation of distribution workflows.
