Program Overview: What is Leadership Pipeline and High-Potential Development?
Leadership Pipeline & High-Potential Development is an instructor-led program for HR teams, talent managers, and people leaders who need a dependable supply of future leaders. Your team learns the full pipeline: defining high potential, spotting it accurately, assessing it fairly through calibration, building development journeys with stretch assignments and mentoring, and keeping top talent engaged. Sixteen hours across six modules turn succession from a slide deck into a working system.
Each session blends concise instruction with case clinics built on real talent decisions from your organization. Instructors run calibration labs where participants score anonymized profiles and defend their judgments, then design development journeys with stretch roles, mentors, and milestones. Coaches review each plan with detailed feedback, and peer groups pressure-test the retention moves. The program closes with a capstone where learners draft a complete high-potential development plan for a real talent segment.
Most pipelines fail twice: once when bias creeps into who gets labeled high-potential, and again when the chosen few receive a course catalog instead of a real growth path. Strong contributors drift or leave while the organization starts over. This program fixes both, giving your team fair assessment discipline and development journeys that actually develop.
The capstone is a finished high-potential development plan for a talent segment in your own organization. Learners define the potential criteria, run a calibration on sample profiles, map stretch assignments and mentoring pairs, and set engagement and retention measures with timelines. The plan arrives reviewed by the instructor and ready to present to HR leadership, so the pipeline work starts moving the week the program ends, not the quarter after.
Six modules and 16 hours: pipeline fundamentals, spotting high potential, fair assessment, development journeys, engagement and retention, and a capstone where each participant presents a complete HiPo development plan. Every concept is rehearsed in guided scenarios.
Delivery is hybrid across virtual and onsite sessions, scheduled around your calendar. Cohorts train as one group or split into batches, with session materials and scenario guides included for every participant.

Build Leadership Pipelines Through Fair Assessment and Purposeful Development Journeys
Edstellar develops talent-pipeline capability through evidence-based calibration and development design. Participants define potential criteria, review anonymized profiles, and plan stretch experiences, mentoring, and milestones. Stay-conversation practice informs the final development plan, reviewed for fair reasoning, growth opportunities, sponsorship, and a clear connection between assessed needs and proposed actions.
- Step 01
Consult
We explore talent-review responsibilities, pipeline bottlenecks, and how potential is currently assessed to identify gaps in calibration, development planning, or engagement with emerging leaders.
- Step 02
Plan
We map leadership transitions before defining potential criteria and calibrating profiles, then connect development journeys, sponsorship, and stay conversations in the final HiPo plan.
- Step 03
Align
We align talent development expertise with HR partners, talent teams, L&D, and managers, using shared role criteria and evidence-based review practices rather than assuming psychometric training.
- Step 04
Customize
We adapt anonymized or fictional profiles and leadership-role requirements to familiar talent segments, ensuring calibration uses relevant evidence rather than personal visibility or unsupported impressions.
- Step 05
Execute
Participants defend calibration judgments, design stretch and mentoring pathways, and rehearse stay conversations, receiving feedback on fairness, developmental fit, employee dialogue, and milestone clarity.
- Step 06
Evaluate
We assess the development plan for evidence-linked potential judgments, appropriate growth experiences, clear sponsorship and review points, and realistic engagement actions without promising a future role.
