Program Overview: What is Product Discovery and Customer Research?
Product Discovery & Customer Research is an instructor-led corporate training program that teaches sales teams how to research buyers systematically and run discovery that actually moves deals. Reps learn interview technique, evidence-based qualification, and account planning through guided labs built around realistic buying scenarios. The program suits account executives and SDRs who want discovery to drive pipeline, not stall it.
Across six modules and 24 instructor-led hours, your team moves from discovery fundamentals to a full research-to-discovery campaign. Each module pairs live instruction with hands-on labs: reps draft question banks, conduct practice interviews, map and score opportunities, and build account plans from real evidence. Instructors debrief practice interviews, correcting leading questions and shallow qualification on the spot. The program closes with the End-to-End Discovery Campaign capstone.
Most discovery is theater: reps ask surface questions, qualify on gut feel, and pitch before they understand the buyer's world. Deals stall because nobody mapped the real decision process or found the pain that funds the purchase. This program replaces pitching with researching, teaching reps to earn the right to sell by understanding first.
For the capstone, each rep team runs an end-to-end discovery campaign against its own accounts and pipeline: a research dossier on target accounts, a tested question bank, conducted practice interviews with debriefed technique, scored and mapped opportunities, and account plans with qualification evidence. The instructor reviews the campaign against live deals, pressing on whether the evidence actually supports the forecast. Reps keep question banks, scoring frameworks, and account-plan templates they can run on every deal from here on.
Across six modules, your team moves from discovery fundamentals to a full research-to-discovery campaign. Each module pairs live instruction with hands-on labs: reps draft question banks, conduct practice interviews, map and score opportunities, and build account plans from real evidence. The capstone campaign applies everything to your team's own accounts and pipeline, reviewed with the instructor. Content adapts to your products, buyers, and sales motion, so every lab produces work your reps can use immediately.

Turn Customer Research Into Product Decisions With Explicit Evidence and Uncertainty
Edstellar develops discovery skills through a connected study of a product problem. Participants frame research questions, practice interviews, synthesize evidence, and test concepts or assumptions. The final study presents a recommendation alongside competing interpretations and remaining uncertainty, with feedback on research quality and the boundaries of what the evidence supports.
- Step 01
Consult
We explore participants' product context, customer-facing experience, and research habits to identify gaps in question framing, interviewing, evidence synthesis, or testing risky assumptions.
- Step 02
Plan
We turn feature requests into research briefs before interview practice, synthesis and opportunity mapping, then prototype testing and decision-focused assumption experiments.
- Step 03
Align
We align product research and discovery expertise with cross-functional experience, establishing appropriate note-taking, peer-testing, and discussion practices for separating observations from interpretations.
- Step 04
Customize
We adapt fictional product briefs, interview case files, and prototype tasks to familiar customer problems, keeping alternative explanations and unresolved assumptions available for scrutiny.
- Step 05
Execute
Participants conduct practice interviews, synthesize problem maps, and run moderated peer tests, receiving feedback on leading questions, missed probes, and overstated conclusions.
- Step 06
Evaluate
We assess the discovery study for clear research questions, traceable evidence synthesis, justified opportunity selection, and a test plan that addresses the remaining decision uncertainty.
