Program Overview: What is Sustainable Project Management (GPM P5)?
For project managers and PMO leads, Sustainable Project Management (GPM P5) is Edstellar's instructor-led program on the GPM P5 sustainability standard. Participants work through the P5 elements: people and planet, prosperity, process and product, plus sustainability impact assessment and how to embed P5 across the project lifecycle. The program makes sustainability a project discipline, not a side deck.
Across 24 hours and six modules, instruction alternates with guided labs on realistic project scenarios. Your team scores a project against the P5 elements, runs a sustainability impact assessment, and rewrites a project plan with P5 woven into its phases, with instructor feedback on each exercise. Instructors coach the cohort through the judgment calls where P5 conflicts with schedule or budget. It ends with a capstone: a sustainable project plan the team defends.
Projects get judged on scope, time, and cost while their sustainability impacts go unmanaged and unmeasured. PMs sense the gap but lack a framework to close it. This program teaches your people to assess and govern project sustainability with the same rigor they apply to the iron triangle.
The capstone gives your team a sustainable project plan built to the P5 standard: impact assessment, element scoring, lifecycle integration, and a governance cadence, reviewed by the instructor. It is a plan a project manager can run and a PMO can audit.
The program covers the P5 ontology, materiality assessment, baselines and scoring, sustainable procurement, and reporting across the project lifecycle. Each concept is practiced in guided labs so teams return with a working sustainability assessment and a project plan that accounts for environmental and social impact, not just cost and schedule.

Embed P5 Sustainability Criteria Into Practical Project Decisions and Governance
Edstellar develops sustainable project-management skills through the P5 dimensions and lifecycle decisions. Participants assess impacts, compare priorities, and connect sustainability with charters, stage gates, and reporting. A complete project plan is reviewed for traceable criteria, practical responsibilities, and clear evidence for monitoring the selected sustainability commitments.
- Step 01
Consult
We discuss project-delivery responsibilities and sustainability experience to identify learning priorities in P5 elements, impact assessment, lifecycle decisions, procurement, and governance.
- Step 02
Plan
P5 foundations lead into people and planet, prosperity, process and product, then impact assessment before sustainability is integrated into a complete project plan.
- Step 03
Align
Project sustainability expertise supports managers, PMO staff, engineers, and ESG teams, connecting P5 concepts with their existing delivery methods and governance responsibilities.
- Step 04
Customize
A fictional project and sample impact evidence provide realistic people, planet, and delivery trade-offs without attributing sensitive impacts to identifiable individuals.
- Step 05
Execute
Participants assess project impacts, draft charter requirements, and build stage-gate checks, receiving feedback on materiality, lifecycle coverage, responsibilities, and the evidence behind criteria.
- Step 06
Evaluate
We assess the project plan for coherent P5 coverage, supported impact priorities, practical governance checks, and measures that make sustainability commitments reviewable throughout delivery.
