Program Overview: What is Critical Thinking and Problem Solving?
Critical Thinking & Problem Solving is a 13-hour instructor-led program for professionals and teams whose decisions have to hold up under questioning. Across five modules, participants work through logic, arguments, and assumptions; evidence and analytical reasoning; decision frameworks and bias traps; and structured problem solving with critical dialogue. It closes with a live problem-solving showcase where each team defends a full recommendation on a real business problem.
Training is built around practice on live thinking: four practice sessions alternate with instructor briefings, so participants map arguments, interrogate evidence, run premortems, and defend positions through Socratic questioning the same day each technique is taught. Every exercise works on real business problems the team brings, with the instructor challenging weak reasoning on the spot and coaching how to document decisions clearly. Peer critique sharpens each analysis before it is tested again. The program culminates in a four-hour capstone showcase where teams solve a live problem and defend their recommendation against rigorous questioning.
Teams that never train their thinking repeat the same failure modes: assumptions treated as facts, evidence cherry-picked to fit conclusions, biases steering decisions nobody notices, and recommendations that collapse the first time someone asks why. Poor thinking is invisible until it is expensive. This program makes reasoning a practiced discipline: mapped arguments, tested evidence, named biases, and decisions documented so clearly that the next team can audit and trust them.
The capstone showcase is where the discipline proves itself: each team takes a real business problem, works it through the full method, and defends a recommendation live, with the instructor pressing every weak point the way a board or client would. Along the way participants build a personal reasoning toolkit: argument maps, premortem templates, Socratic question banks, and decision documentation formats that keep working after the program ends. Critical thinking stops being an abstract value and becomes the way the team works through the next hard decision.
Across five modules, teams move from reasoning foundations to a full defended recommendation. The emphasis is on repeatable techniques (argument mapping, premortems, Socratic questioning, decision documentation) that keep working long after the program ends, so critical thinking becomes a team habit rather than a one-off workshop.

Where this Training Fits in Your Team's learning path.
Critical thinking comes first in this path because every later method depends on clear reasoning. Root cause analysis then applies that reasoning to real problems, strategic decision making uses it for larger choices, and systems thinking helps your team see how parts of the organisation affect each other.

Strengthen Workplace Decisions Through Clear Reasoning and Constructive Challenge
Edstellar connects argument analysis with evidence evaluation, bias awareness, and structured dialogue. Participants question proposals and test decisions using relevant workplace cases before defending a recommendation. Review focuses on the relationship between claims and evidence, the treatment of assumptions, and the quality of reasoning under respectful challenge.
- Step 01
Consult
We explore information-heavy decisions and team discussions to identify gaps in argument structure, evidence evaluation, hidden assumptions, and constructive questioning.
- Step 02
Plan
We establish logic and assumptions before testing evidence and bias, then decision frameworks and critical dialogue within the defended problem-solving recommendation.
- Step 03
Align
We align analytical facilitation with the cohort's professional roles, making reasoning techniques accessible while providing realistic opportunities to challenge proposals without discouraging participation.
- Step 04
Customize
We tailor sample reports, team proposals, and premortem scenarios to relevant decisions, separating verified facts from assumptions and preserving plausible alternative explanations.
- Step 05
Execute
Participants map arguments, stress-test claims, and question proposals constructively, receiving feedback on evidence strength, reasoning gaps, bias checks, and dialogue quality.
- Step 06
Evaluate
We assess the recommendation for explicit assumptions, well-supported claims, consideration of alternatives, and a defensible explanation of the chosen course of action.
