Program Overview: What is Network Automation and Intent-Based Networking?
Network Automation & Intent-Based Networking is Edstellar's instructor-led technical program for network engineers and NetOps teams moving from CLI-driven operations to automation. It covers network automation foundations, programmable devices and scripted workflows, configuration templates and source of truth, intent modeling and policy translation, plus assurance, telemetry, and closed-loop operations.
Training is hands-on from the first module. Participants automate device configurations with scripts, build templates backed by a source of truth, and model network intent that translates into policy. Later sessions add telemetry and closed-loop assurance that detects and corrects drift, with instructors reviewing every automation for safety and rollback behavior. The program closes with a capstone: end-to-end intent-based network automation.
Network teams drown in manual changes: CLI sessions per device, configuration drift nobody detects, and outages caused by typos at 2 a.m. Automation scripts exist but nobody trusts them in production. This program teaches engineers to build automation they can trust: versioned, tested, rollback-safe, and verified against intent.
The capstone is end-to-end intent-based network automation: a declared intent, the translated policies, the automation that enforces them, and the telemetry loop that proves the network matches. Instructors break the network and watch the automation recover it. Engineers return with a working closed loop and the evidence their leadership needs to approve automation in production.
Six modules and 24 hours: automation foundations, device scripting, configuration templates, intent modeling, closed-loop assurance, and a capstone pipeline build. Every module pairs concepts with a guided lab, so each technique is practiced. It closes with a capstone automation pipeline the team designs, deploys, verifies, and presents.
Delivery is hybrid across virtual and onsite sessions, scheduled around your calendar. Cohorts train as one group or split into batches, with session materials and lab guides included for every participant.

Where this Training Fits in Your Team's learning path.
Intent-based networking builds on scripting skills and an understanding of SDN and NFV. Your team scripts the network in Python, learns software-defined networking, then automates with intent in this course. The path ends with AIOps, which adds AI-driven insight to that automation.

Translate Network Intent Into Verified Automation and Observable Configuration Behavior
Edstellar connects network automation techniques with the intent a service is meant to satisfy. Participants collect device facts, render configurations, and translate policies before checking telemetry and drift. The final solution is reviewed for repeatable changes, verified state, and a clear explanation of how closed-loop actions are controlled.
- Step 01
Consult
We review networking and CLI experience to identify gaps in device APIs, configuration templates, source-of-truth consistency, intent modeling, and telemetry-based verification.
- Step 02
Plan
We establish automation and programmable-device foundations before templates and source of truth, then develop intent translation and assurance ahead of the end-to-end automation solution.
- Step 03
Align
We align network automation expertise with operations, engineering, and reliability roles, adjusting scripting and API practice to the cohort's topology, tooling, and experience.
- Step 04
Customize
Lab devices, standard configuration templates, and service-intent cases reflect familiar network patterns, enabling tailored drift scenarios without directing automation at operational infrastructure.
- Step 05
Execute
Participants collect facts, render configurations, translate service intent, and test drift checks, receiving feedback on source consistency, verification evidence, and bounded remediation behavior.
- Step 06
Evaluate
We assess the automation for traceable intent-to-configuration mappings, repeatable lab changes, verified device state, and documented telemetry and remediation logic that explains the control loop.
