Program Overview: What is Identity and Access Management?
Identity & Access Management is a hands-on training program for security engineers and IT administrators who own identity for their organisation. The program covers IAM architecture and identity concepts, directory services and identity stores, single sign-on with MFA and passwordless, provisioning and lifecycle automation, and authorization models with access reviews. Participants work across six modules over 24 hours.
Training centres on guided labs with realistic identity environments. Participants configure directory services, implement SSO and MFA flows, automate provisioning lifecycles, and run access reviews. Instructors with identity engineering experience review each configuration, troubleshoot authentication failures with learners, and give direct feedback on design decisions. The program closes with a five-hour capstone where each team designs a complete enterprise IAM program.
Identity sprawl is where breaches begin: orphaned accounts, over-privileged users, and access nobody reviews. Teams bolt on tools without a coherent architecture, and every audit surfaces the same findings. This program teaches teams to design identity properly from the start and to govern it continuously.
The capstone deliverable is a full enterprise IAM program design: architecture diagrams, directory and SSO configurations, provisioning workflows, and an access review cadence, all built and tested by the team. They return with a blueprint they can implement at their own organisation, instead of another pile of tool evaluations.
Across 24 hours, participants move from identity concepts into deep hands-on work: building directories, federating apps with SAML and OIDC, enforcing FIDO2 MFA, automating joiner-mover-leaver flows with SCIM, designing RBAC models, and running certification campaigns. The capstone asks each team to design a complete IAM program for a fictional enterprise and defend it in an instructor review.

Teams that Benefit from this Identity and Access Management Group Training
Built for security, IT, IAM, and governance teams that own identities and access. Content adapts to each cohort's role and experience, so every group practices the directory, federation, and provisioning workflows it owns in production.
Make identity the primary security perimeter
Engineers learn to federate apps, enforce MFA, and automate provisioning, shrinking the attack surface that stolen credentials exploit.
Workflow friction
- Password-only logins on legacy apps
- Orphaned accounts after departures
- Inconsistent MFA coverage
How the program helps
- Fewer credential-based attack paths
- Phishing-resistant MFA on critical apps
- Automated deprovisioning of leavers
Practice use cases
- SSO federation
- FIDO2 rollout
- SCIM provisioning
End manual account administration
IT teams replace ticket-driven provisioning with automated joiner-mover-leaver workflows tied to HR data.
Workflow friction
- Manual provisioning backlogs
- Stale accounts lingering for months
- No single source of truth
How the program helps
- Day-one access without tickets
- Clean leaver offboarding
- Fewer access-related helpdesk calls
Practice use cases
- JML automation
- HR-driven provisioning
- directory hygiene
Operate identity platforms with confidence
Administrators deepen skills across directories, federation, and governance tooling used in production IAM programs.
Workflow friction

How the program helps
- Standard runbooks for common tasks
- Faster troubleshooting of auth issues
- Confident certification cycles
Practice use cases
- IdP administration
- federation troubleshooting
- access certifications
Prove who has access to what, on demand
Governance teams learn to design SoD policies and run certifications that satisfy auditors and regulators.
Workflow friction
- Spreadsheet-based certifications
- Toxic role combinations
- Repeat audit findings
How the program helps
- Evidence-ready access reviews
- Enforced segregation of duties
- Continuous compliance signals
Practice use cases
- SoD policy design
- certification campaigns
- audit evidence packs
Cohorts can mix roles; labs include role-specific tracks so each team practices its own workflows.
Prerequisites: Best suited for security engineers, IT admins, IAM administrators, and governance teams. Basic networking and directory concepts help but are not required. No prior IAM platform experience is needed; the program adapts to each cohort's applications, directories, and compliance context.
Admin to IAM architect
Admins start with directories and SSO; architects progress to governance and program design.
A program that grows with identity careers, from directory basics to enterprise IAM leadership.
Mixed cohort, or several teams at once?
We can tailor the training to different teams, roles, and experience levels within the same program.
Certificate of Training Completion.
On successful completion, employees receive an Edstellar course completion certificate, recognizing their commitment to ongoing learning and professional development. It validates the skills they have built and motivates them to keep growing and contribute to organizational success.
Earned, not attended. Awarded on completion of all hands-on labs and the capstone project.

Where this Training Fits in Your Team's learning path.
Identity and access management is the second step, after basic security knowledge. With authentication, authorisation and lifecycle processes in place, your team can govern who has access to what, and then lock down privileged accounts, which carry the highest risk.

Build Enterprise IAM Designs With Verified Identity Lifecycles and Access Flows
Edstellar develops IAM capability by connecting identity architecture with working authentication and governance controls. Participants build directories, federate applications, and automate joiner and leaver processes before reviewing access. The final enterprise design is assessed for coherent identity sources, strong authentication, timely lifecycle actions, and a clear explanation of the authorization and review model.
- Step 01
Consult
We examine directory and access-management responsibilities, identifying gaps in federation, lifecycle automation, or role reviews while assessing participants' networking and identity-concept familiarity.
- Step 02
Plan
Identity architecture leads into directories, SSO and MFA, provisioning automation, and authorization and reviews before the complete enterprise IAM program design is presented.
- Step 03
Align
We align identity engineering expertise with security, administration, and governance roles, confirming suitable lab applications and directories without assuming prior experience on a particular IAM platform.
- Step 04
Customize
Mock HR feeds, application roles, and identity events reflect familiar enterprise patterns, enabling lifecycle and federation tests with fictional users and isolated accounts.
- Step 05
Execute
Participants federate apps, enforce lab MFA, and automate account changes, receiving feedback on authentication behavior, lifecycle completeness, role design, and the remediation of conflicting access.
- Step 06
Evaluate
We assess the IAM design for consistent identity flows, demonstrated authentication and lifecycle controls, justified authorization choices, and a review approach that addresses identified access risks.
