Program Overview: What is Kubernetes Security Fundamentals?
Kubernetes Security Fundamentals is Edstellar's instructor-led technical program for engineering teams securing Kubernetes from the ground up. Participants learn the shared responsibility model, authentication and RBAC, pod security standards, network policies, secrets management, and image and supply chain security. The program fits teams building security into clusters early rather than bolting it on.
Training is hands-on from the first module. Participants configure authentication and RBAC, enforce pod security standards, write network policies, manage secrets properly, and scan images in guided labs on real clusters. Instructors coach your engineers through the misconfigurations attackers exploit, reviewing every exercise with direct feedback. The program closes with a capstone cluster hardening assessment.
Security debt in Kubernetes compounds fast: one overprivileged pod becomes a cluster compromise. This program teaches your engineers the fundamentals that prevent breaches, practiced in labs until they are habit. Teams leave with clusters that start secure and stay that way.
The capstone is a hardening assessment of a live cluster: RBAC review, pod security posture, network segmentation, secrets handling, and image provenance scored and remediated. Your engineers return with a hardening checklist they can apply to every cluster they touch.
The program is designed for platform, DevOps, and application teams that run workloads on Kubernetes and need a solid security baseline. Each module pairs concise concept delivery with a guided lab: participants design least-privilege RBAC, enforce pod security standards, segment networks with policies, secure secrets, block vulnerable images at admission, and audit a cluster for misconfigurations. The capstone has each team harden a full cluster and defend their choices in an instructor review.

Key Skills and Outcomes Your Team Will Gain
By the end of the program, your team can audit, harden, and maintain secure Kubernetes clusters.
Threat Modeling for Kubernetes
Identify the attack surface of a cluster and prioritize controls by real risk.
RBAC Design
Build least-privilege roles and bindings for users, teams, and service accounts.
Workload Hardening
Apply security contexts and pod security standards so workloads run with minimal privilege.
Network Segmentation
Write network policies that isolate namespaces and control east-west traffic.
Secrets Handling
Store, mount, and rotate secrets safely without leaking them into images or logs.
Image Trust
Scan images, enforce admission policies, and keep untrusted workloads out of the cluster.
Cluster Auditing
Run a structured security audit and turn findings into a prioritized remediation plan.
Teams that Benefit from this Kubernetes Security Fundamentals Group Training
This program is built for the teams that run and secure Kubernetes. Content adapts to each cohort's cluster setup, access model, and experience level, so every group practices the controls it owns.
Ship clusters that are secure by default
Platform teams learn to bake hardening baselines into every cluster they provision.
Workflow friction
- Inconsistent security across clusters
- Manual hardening that drifts
- Unclear baseline ownership
How the program helps
- Repeatable hardening baselines
- Secure defaults for every namespace
- Fewer audit findings per cluster
Practice use cases
- Cluster baselines
- Policy enforcement
- Secure defaults
Operate clusters with confidence
DevOps and SRE teams learn to audit access, segment networks, and respond to misconfigurations.

Cohorts can mix these functions or focus on one; labs adapt to the clusters each group operates.
Prerequisites: This program benefits teams that already deploy or operate workloads on Kubernetes. Familiarity with kubectl, YAML manifests, and basic networking helps, but is not required: the first module sets the baseline. No prior security specialization is needed; content adapts to each cohort's clusters and tooling.
Cluster operator to Kubernetes security practitioner
Skills progress from understanding the threat landscape to auditing and hardening production clusters.
One program that grows with platform careers, from cluster basics to confident security practice.
Mixed cohort, or several teams at once?
We can tailor the training to different teams, roles, and experience levels within the same program.

Where this Training Fits in Your Team's learning path.
Kubernetes security comes once your team can run clusters, since securing something you cannot operate is guesswork. With cluster security in place, the path moves to securing the pipelines that deploy to Kubernetes and then to service mesh for traffic control.
