Program Overview: What is Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)?
Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) is Edstellar's instructor-led technical program for DevOps and platform teams adopting SRE practice. It covers SRE foundations and SLO thinking, monitoring, alerting and observability, incident response and postmortems, release engineering and deployment safety, and reliability patterns with chaos engineering. Participants learn to run production as a discipline, not a reaction.
Training is hands-on against realistic production scenarios from the first module. Participants define SLOs, build monitoring and alerting, run incident-response drills and blameless postmortems, and practice safe deployment patterns in guided labs. Instructors coach each team on error budgets, observability design, and release discipline, giving direct feedback on every exercise. The program closes with a five-hour capstone where the team completes a reliability review and production rollout plan.
Without SRE, reliability is a hope: alerts that nobody trusts, incidents handled by heroics, and postmortems that never change anything. Feature velocity keeps eroding uptime until customers notice. This program teaches teams to manage reliability as an engineering function, with SLOs, error budgets, and postmortems that actually improve the system.
The capstone is a working reliability package: a documented set of SLOs with error budgets, a tuned alerting and observability layout, a postmortem template from a real drill, and a production rollout plan with rollback criteria. Instructors run a chaos scenario against the plan live, so the team leaves knowing exactly where their reliability breaks and what to fix first.
Six modules and 24 hours: SRE foundations and SLO design, monitoring and alerting, incident response, release safety, and reliability patterns. Every module pairs concepts with a guided lab, so each technique is practiced. It closes with a capstone reliability review the team plans, builds, and presents.
Delivery is hybrid across virtual and onsite sessions, scheduled around your calendar. Cohorts train as one group or split into batches, with session materials and lab guides included for every participant.

Key Skills and Outcomes Your Team Will Gain
Seven job-ready outcomes your team will demonstrate by the end of the program. Each competency is practiced in guided labs and reviewed in the capstone reliability review.
Define SLOs and error budgets
Write SLIs and SLOs for real services, and use error budgets to make release decisions with data.
Instrument services for observability
Add metrics, logs, and traces to services, and build dashboards that answer real health questions.
Design actionable alerting
Write symptom-based alerts with severity routing, so pages mean someone must act now.
Run incident response
Take incident roles, communicate under pressure, and execute response playbooks in live drills.
Write blameless postmortems
Turn incidents into prioritized follow-ups with root-cause analysis that fixes systems, not people.
Engineer safe deployments
Build pipelines with gates, canary stages, and rollback plans that execute in minutes.
Chaos-test production resilience
Design controlled chaos experiments with blast radius limits that prove resilience before users do.
Teams that Benefit from this Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Group Training
This group training is built for DevOps, SRE, and platform groups responsible for production reliability. Content adapts to each cohort's roles, stack, and experience, so every batch practices the workflows it owns, from SLO design to incident response.
Ship reliable releases with confidence.
DevOps engineers add SLO gates and progressive delivery to pipelines, so releases stop being the riskiest part of the week.
Workflow friction
- Releases fail without clear rollback
- Alerts page for non-issues
- No shared reliability standard
How the program helps
- Error-budget-gated releases
- Symptom-based alerting
- One reliability playbook
Practice use cases
- Pipeline gate labs
- Canary release drills
- Rollback exercises
Run incidents and SLOs like a practice.
SREs formalize SLOs, error budgets, and postmortems, turning tribal response habits into a repeatable reliability program.
Workflow friction

Make reliability a business decision.
Engineering leaders use error budgets and reliability roadmaps to balance feature velocity against stability with real data.
Workflow friction
- Velocity vs stability trade-offs
- Reliability work underfunded
- Incidents surprise stakeholders
How the program helps
- Data-driven release calls
- Funded reliability roadmaps
- Predictable incident comms
Practice use cases
- Error budget reviews
- Roadmap planning
- Comms templates
Cohorts train as a cross-functional workforce, with each small group aligned on shared reliability standards.
Prerequisites: This program suits DevOps engineers, SREs, platform engineers, and engineering leaders who own production services. Basic familiarity with Linux, cloud, and CI/CD helps, but deep expertise is not required: labs start from foundations and scale to advanced drills, and every cohort's exercises adapt to its own stack and incident history.
Ops Engineer to Site Reliability Engineer
Learners enter with basic operations experience and exit ready to own production reliability, from SLO design through incident leadership.
A program that grows with reliability careers, from first SLO draft to confident production ownership.
Mixed cohort, or several teams at once?
We can tailor the training to different teams, roles, and experience levels within the same program.
Certificate of Training Completion.
On successful completion, employees receive an Edstellar course completion certificate, recognizing their commitment to ongoing learning and professional development. It validates the skills they have built and motivates them to keep growing and contribute to organizational success.

Where this Training Fits in Your Team's learning path.
SRE comes after monitoring and OpenTelemetry because service levels need good signals underneath them. Once SRE practice is in place, platform engineering spreads it across teams through shared, reliable tooling.
