Program Overview: What is Internal Audit and Assurance (IIA Standards)?
Internal Audit & Assurance (IIA Standards) is a 24-hour instructor-led program for internal auditors, audit committee members, and assurance professionals. It covers internal audit foundations, IIA standards on governance and ethics, risk assessment and risk-based audit planning, audit fieldwork with evidence and sampling, and reporting, ratings, and management action plans. Participants complete an end-to-end internal audit engagement.
Training runs as 24 hours of instructor-led sessions built around a simulated engagement. Participants conduct risk assessments, build risk-based audit plans, perform fieldwork with evidence and sampling, draft workpapers, and write reports with ratings and management action plans. Instructors with audit leadership experience review every workpaper and coach participants on skepticism, documentation, and difficult conversations with management. The program closes with the End-to-End Internal Audit Engagement capstone, where each team delivers a complete engagement file.
Audit functions lose credibility when findings are vague, late, or never followed up. Management stops listening, and the same control failures repeat year after year. This program builds auditors who deliver sharp findings and drive real remediation, so the audit function becomes a trusted advisor instead of a tolerated cost center.
The End-to-End Internal Audit Engagement capstone runs each team through a full audit cycle on a simulated organization: risk assessment, audit planning, fieldwork, workpaper documentation, reporting with ratings, and management action plans, all reviewed by instructors who play the role of a demanding audit committee. The engagement file teams produce is the kind that survives real quality review. Auditors return with a complete engagement under their belt, which changes how they approach their next real one.
Six modules and 24 hours: audit foundations, the IIA Standards, risk-based planning, fieldwork and workpapers, reporting and action plans. Every module pairs concepts with a guided lab, so each technique is practiced. It closes with a capstone engagement the team plans, executes, reports, and presents.
Delivery is hybrid across virtual and onsite sessions, scheduled around your calendar. Cohorts train as one group or split into batches, with session materials, lab guides, and audit templates included for every participant.

Build Internal Audit Evidence From Risk Planning Through Committee Reporting
Edstellar develops assurance capability through a simulated internal audit engagement. Participants examine governance and independence, prioritize risks, and carry out fieldwork with sampling and documented evidence. The completed engagement file and committee presentation connect findings to management actions, with review of professional skepticism, workpaper quality, ratings, and the rationale behind conclusions.
- Step 01
Consult
We review audit and control familiarity, assurance responsibilities, and recurring problems with planning, workpaper review, or finding closure to identify the cohort's capability gaps.
- Step 02
Plan
We establish assurance roles, ethics, and charter requirements before risk-based planning, then progress through fieldwork and reporting to a complete simulated engagement.
- Step 03
Align
We align internal audit leadership expertise with auditors, risk staff, and process stakeholders, framing exercises around IIA Standards and the cohort's mandate and reporting responsibilities.
- Step 04
Customize
We adapt a simulated business process, risk universe, and sample charter to familiar assurance needs, including evidence gaps and management responses that require careful judgment.
- Step 05
Execute
Participants select samples, test controls, document workpapers, and negotiate simulated action plans, receiving feedback on evidence sufficiency, skepticism, finding ratings, and reporting clarity.
- Step 06
Evaluate
We assess the engagement file and committee presentation for risk-based scope, traceable testing, supported conclusions, consistent ratings, and specific management actions linked to findings.
