Program Overview: What is ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System?
ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management System is for safety managers, operations leaders, and worker representatives building safer workplaces. It covers ISO 45001 foundations and context, plus hazard identification and risk. Participants work through operational controls and safe work, emergency response and investigation, and performance evaluation and internal audit.
The course runs as safety system labs where participants identify hazards, assess risks, and design operational controls with instructor coaching. Safety practitioners review each risk assessment and control plan for real-world adequacy, with feedback on every document. Emergency response and investigation drills rehearse the hours that matter most. Findings are graded against certification audit expectations. It closes with a capstone where teams conduct an OH&S system readiness review and present findings.
Workplaces with weak safety systems pay in injuries, enforcement action, and lost production, and paper procedures do not protect anyone. Hazards unidentified and controls unenforced are the pattern behind serious incidents. This program teaches teams to build an OH&S management system that actually reduces risk and satisfies ISO 45001.
The capstone readiness review gives each team a system health report: hazard registers checked, controls evaluated, emergency plans tested, investigation quality reviewed, and an internal audit with graded findings. That report tells leadership exactly what would pass and what would fail in certification. Teams keep the review format for ongoing system surveillance.
Six modules and 24 hours: OH&S foundations and system context, hazard identification and risk planning, operational controls, emergency response and incident investigation, performance evaluation and internal audit, and a capstone management-system readiness review. Every module pairs concepts with a guided lab, so each technique is practiced. It closes with a capstone your team assesses and presents.
Delivery is hybrid across virtual and onsite sessions, scheduled around your calendar. Cohorts train as one group or split into batches, with session materials and lab guides included for every attendee.

Where this Training Fits in Your Team's learning path.
ISO 45001 comes third, after safety essentials and hazard assessment. A management system rests on risk assessment, so your team learns those foundations first. The final step adds the leadership and culture that keep the system working beyond audits.

Connect OH&S Management Systems With Practical Hazard and Response Decisions
Edstellar develops ISO 45001 capability through hazard assessment, safe-work design, and emergency practice. Participants connect organizational context with control decisions, rehearse an incident response, and examine audit evidence. A system readiness review consolidates the work, with feedback on risk reasoning, permit discipline, investigation quality, and the actions needed to close identified gaps.
- Step 01
Consult
We explore site hazards, safety roles, and recurring issues in permit use, incident investigations, or audit records to establish the cohort's OH&S learning priorities.
- Step 02
Plan
We map context and interested parties before hazard assessment and safe-work controls, then connect emergency response, investigation, and internal audit in the system readiness review.
- Step 03
Align
We align occupational safety expertise with EHS, operations, HR, and compliance responsibilities, using site-relevant cases and tabletop exercises appropriate to participants' experience.
- Step 04
Customize
We adapt high-risk task scenarios, permit forms, and incident records to familiar site activities, ensuring the exercises connect worker participation and operational controls with evidence.
- Step 05
Execute
Participants score hazards, draft safe-work procedures, run tabletop drills, and investigate simulated incidents, receiving feedback on control adequacy, coordination, root causes, and audit findings.
- Step 06
Evaluate
We assess the readiness review for justified hazard controls, usable safe-work records, coherent emergency and investigation actions, and evidence-based priorities for improving the OH&S system.
