Program Overview: What is Safety Leadership and Culture?
Safety Leadership & Culture is Edstellar's instructor-led program for supervisors, managers, and EHS professionals responsible for safety performance on the ground. Participants master safety leadership behaviors, hazard identification and risk assessment, culture building, incident investigation, and emergency response. The program treats safety as a leadership discipline, not a compliance checkbox.
Training is practice-heavy across 24 hours. Leaders rehearse safety conversations and coaching dialogues, investigate staged incident scenarios, and assess real hazard cases in small-group exercises. Instructors observe and debrief every exercise with direct, behavior-level feedback. The program closes with a 5-hour capstone: a site safety leadership simulation under pressure.
Most safety failures are leadership failures: hazards go unreported, shortcuts get rewarded, and investigations stop at the individual instead of the system. This program teaches leaders to model, coach, and reinforce safe behavior every shift. The skills are drilled in scenarios, so they hold when production pressure rises.
The capstone drops participants into a simulated site where incidents, near misses, and cultural signals unfold in real time. Leaders respond, investigate, and coach as a team, then review their decisions in debrief. They return with practiced judgment for the moments when safety culture is decided.
Most safety programs teach rules. This one builds leaders. Over six modules your cohort moves from safety leadership foundations through hazard assessment, culture building, incident response, and coaching, finishing with a capstone where they audit a simulated site, assess its culture, and lead an incident review. Every exercise uses realistic scenarios, so leaders leave with routines they can run on Monday morning.

Where this Training Fits in Your Team's learning path.
Safety leadership and culture comes third, after behaviour-based safety and ISO 45001. Your team has observation programmes and a management system in place first. Leaders then shape the culture around them, and the final step adds human and organisational performance thinking.

Practice Safety Leadership Through Hazard Decisions, Coaching, and Culture Review
Edstellar develops safety leadership through the decisions and conversations supervisors face at work. Participants assess hazards, discuss culture, investigate staged incidents, and rehearse coaching or toolbox talks. A site-safety simulation brings these skills together for feedback on control reasoning, communication, and the practical responsibilities in a culture-improvement plan.
- Step 01
Consult
We examine supervisors' safety responsibilities, hazard-assessment confidence, and conversation challenges to identify where leadership habits or control reasoning need stronger practice.
- Step 02
Plan
Safety leadership foundations connect hazard identification, culture-building, incident response, and coaching before a site-safety simulation and defended improvement plan.
- Step 03
Align
Safety leadership facilitation reflects supervisory and EHS responsibilities, accommodating different experience levels while keeping exercises relevant to the cohort's operational context.
- Step 04
Customize
Simulated work areas and anonymized incident situations reflect relevant hazards, allowing leaders to discuss behavior and controls without identifying individual workers.
- Step 05
Execute
Participants conduct hazard assessments, lead toolbox talks, and practice coaching, receiving feedback on control choices, clarity, listening, and constructive safety conversations.
- Step 06
Evaluate
We review the simulation decisions and culture plan for justified risk controls, clear leadership responsibilities, and communication that supports reporting and learning.
