Program Overview: What is SAP MM (Material Management)?
SAP MM (Material Management) is Edstellar's instructor-led program for procurement, materials, and finance teams running SAP MM. It covers organizational structures, requisitions to purchase orders, goods receipts, invoices and inventory, special procurement, and MM reporting with Fiori. Participants learn to run procure-to-pay cleanly inside SAP.
Training is hands-on from the first module, with guided labs in a live SAP MM environment. Participants build material and vendor masters, raise requisitions, convert purchase orders, post goods receipts, and verify invoices. Instructors coach on procurement discipline, reviewing each document flow before errors reach finance. The final six hours are a capstone: run a complete procure-to-pay cycle.
Procure-to-pay chaos costs real money: maverick buying, price variances nobody catches, and three-way matches that never match. Finance discovers the problems at month end. This program teaches teams to run procurement inside SAP with control: approved requisitions, clean receipts, and invoice verification that protects the margin.
The capstone is a complete End-to-End Procure-to-Pay Cycle: six hours taking a requirement from requisition through sourcing, purchase order, goods receipt, and invoice verification, with release procedures and special procurement in the mix. Instructors reconcile the cycle the way finance would, and the team leaves with the document templates and Fiori reporting layouts they built.
The program starts with clients, company codes, plants, and the material and vendor masters that drive MM, then moves into the purchasing cycle: requisitions, RFQs, quotations, and purchase orders with pricing. From there your team practices goods receipts, invoice verification, and inventory postings, then special procurement scenarios like subcontracting, consignment, and stock transport orders. Later modules cover release strategies, source determination, key Fiori apps and reporting, integration with SD, PP, and WM, and period-end closing. The capstone asks each team to run a full procure-to-pay cycle in a practice system, from requisition to payment, and present the results to stakeholders.

Build SAP Materials Management Skills Across Reconciled Procure-to-Pay Workflows
Edstellar develops SAP MM capability through purchasing, inventory, and invoice scenarios that remain connected from start to finish. Participants configure structures, apply approvals, examine special procurement, and interpret reports. A reconciled procure-to-pay exercise is reviewed for consistent documents, appropriate controls, and an explanation of integration effects.
- Step 01
Consult
We explore purchasing and inventory responsibilities, SAP familiarity, and common receipt or invoice discrepancies to establish practical learning priorities in materials management.
- Step 02
Plan
Organizational foundations lead into requisitions and orders, receipts, invoices, inventory, and special procurement before reporting and an integrated procure-to-pay simulation.
- Step 03
Align
SAP materials-management expertise supports procurement, warehouse, and finance colleagues, connecting each transaction to the controls and downstream information their roles depend on.
- Step 04
Customize
Fictional suppliers, materials, quotations, and invoice exceptions reflect relevant purchasing patterns without disclosing negotiated prices or creating actual procurement commitments.
- Step 05
Execute
Teams compare quotations, release purchase orders, reconcile receipts and invoices, and test integrations, receiving feedback on document accuracy and control application.
- Step 06
Evaluate
We assess the procure-to-pay cycle for consistent quantities and values, justified approvals, reconciled documents, and a clear explanation of integration or reporting differences.
