Program Overview: What is Warehouse Operations and Automation?
Warehouse Operations & Automation is a 24-hour instructor-led program for warehouse managers, logistics supervisors, and operations teams. It covers warehouse foundations and facility design, inbound receiving and put-away, inventory control with slotting and cycle counting, order fulfillment, and automation technologies including WMS, AGVs, and robotics. Participants learn to run a warehouse that is fast, accurate, and ready for automation.
This program runs on the floor, not in slides: learners lay out receiving and put-away flows, practice slotting and cycle counting, and design picking routes in realistic scenarios. Automation modules cover WMS concepts, AGV workflows, and robotics use cases so learners judge what automation pays for. The instructor coaches the trade-offs operators live with: speed versus accuracy and labor versus automation cost. A 4.5-hour capstone closes the program as each learner runs an end-to-end warehouse operations lab, from inbound dock to dispatched order.
Warehouses bleed money quietly: misplaced stock, slow picks, and error-prone manual processes that automation could have fixed years ago. This program teaches teams to see the warehouse as a system, fixing flow and accuracy before spending on technology. The teams that do this well ship faster with fewer people and fewer errors, which is the whole game in distribution.
The capstone operations lab is the deliverable: a complete warehouse run designed by the learner, covering inbound receiving, slotting, cycle counting, picking, packing, and dispatch, with automation decisions justified by cost and throughput. Participants take that design back to their own facilities as a working template, so the program pays off in the next layout review, not just in the classroom.
Across 24 hours, participants work through guided, lab-based exercises that mirror real warehouse shifts: processing receipts in a WMS sandbox, building slotting plans from velocity data, running cycle counts, and designing pick waves for different order profiles. The automation modules demystify WMS configuration, barcode and RFID data capture, conveyors, AMRs and pick-assist technologies, so teams can evaluate automation investments on labor, accuracy and payback terms. Every cohort finishes with a capstone where teams redesign a warehouse end to end, present an automation business case, and defend it in front of an instructor panel.

Tell us your facility profile and WMS landscape during scoping and we will tune the labs to your operation.
Prerequisites: This program suits warehouse supervisors, planners, inventory controllers and operations staff at any experience level. Familiarity with warehouse terminology helps but is not required, and no prior automation or WMS experience is needed. The instructor adapts examples and lab complexity to your facility type, systems and cohort seniority.
Warehouse Associate to Operations Leader
The progression maps six warehouse competencies across four levels. Foundation covers layout basics and inbound workflows; Intermediate adds counting programs and picking methods; Advanced covers WMS and automation evaluation; Very Advanced is the capstone redesign with a full automation business case.
One program that grows with supply chain careers, from warehouse basics to confident automation planning.

Connect Warehouse Process Design With Inventory Control and Automation Decisions
Edstellar develops warehouse capability through the flow from receiving to dispatch. Participants examine layouts, process WMS transactions, analyze inventory controls, and compare automation options using sample operating data. A warehouse redesign combines procedures, KPIs, and an investment case, with review of operational logic, assumptions, and the fit between process needs and technology.
- Step 01
Consult
We explore warehouse responsibilities and operating challenges, identifying gaps in receiving exceptions, put-away, slotting, stock accuracy, fulfillment planning, and the evaluation of automation proposals.
- Step 02
Plan
We establish warehouse design and inbound flows, develop inventory and fulfillment controls, then compare WMS, AGV, and robotics options in an integrated redesign exercise.
- Step 03
Align
We align warehouse operations expertise with supervisors, planners, and inventory teams, adjusting terminology to experience and clarifying responsibility for transactions, procedures, performance measures, and automation analysis.
- Step 04
Customize
We adapt sample receipts, inventory profiles, and facility constraints to familiar operations, retaining exception handling and payback comparisons without changing live warehouse records or equipment.
- Step 05
Execute
Participants process receipts in a WMS sandbox, examine slotting and picking choices, and compare automation payback, receiving feedback on accuracy, assumptions, process fit, and operating controls.
- Step 06
Evaluate
We assess the redesign for coherent material flow, usable SOPs, meaningful KPIs, and an automation business case whose labor, accuracy, and cost assumptions are explicit and defensible.
