Program Overview: What is AWS SysOps?
AWS SysOps is Edstellar's instructor-led technical program for systems operators and SRE teams running production workloads on AWS. Participants master deploying and provisioning resources, monitoring with logging and alerting, and storage with backup and disaster recovery. The program covers security operations, network operations, and cost optimization.
Training is hands-on from the first module. Participants operate AWS in guided labs: provisioning with automation, building dashboards and alarms, testing backups and restores, then running incident simulations. Instructors coach operational excellence with direct feedback on every drill. The program closes with an end-to-end operations runbook lab the team writes and executes.
Operations teams drown the same way: alerts nobody trusts, runbooks that exist only in someone's head, and disaster recovery never tested. This program teaches operations discipline, meaningful alarms, written runbooks, and recovery rehearsed before it's needed. Everything is practiced in incident simulations, so the team performs under pressure, not just in training.
The capstone is an end-to-end operations runbook lab: the team writes the runbooks, deploy, monitor, back up, recover, secure, then executes them against live failure scenarios. Operators return with runbooks they've actually run during a simulated outage, which is the only kind worth having at 3 AM.
Tell us your training needs and we focus the program on them: your account structure, your deployment patterns, your compliance requirements. Modules can emphasize the services your team runs daily, from EC2 and RDS to serverless workloads. The program runs instructor-led in hybrid, onsite, or live virtual formats. Scheduling flexes around your calendar, and every cohort leaves with runbooks, templates, and dashboards to reuse.

AWS SysOps Course Topics and Program Outline
Eight modules take your team from AWS operations foundations to a production-ready SysOps practice: deployments, monitoring, security, networking, cost control, and a capstone runbook. Concept briefings pair with guided hands-on labs in sandbox AWS accounts.
Built by Edstellar with AWS SysOps practitioners
Built by engineers who run production AWS workloads, shaped around your stack and use cases.
A short skills check maps your team's AWS operations baseline before module one, so labs start at the right level.
Instructor-led sessions build AWS operations foundations, from accounts and CLI to tagging, over 3 hours of concept work.
Guided labs across 17 hours put CloudFormation, CloudWatch, backups, and IAM security in your team's hands.
Your team ships VPC networking, cost optimization, and a full operations capstone over 14 hours of applied, instructor-reviewed work.

Key Skills and Outcomes Your Team Will Gain
Your team will build the competencies to deploy, monitor, secure, and cost-optimize AWS workloads, leaving with runbooks, alarms, and templates ready for production use.
Deploy infrastructure as code
Author and update CloudFormation stacks with parameters and change sets for repeatable, safe deployments.
Set up Auto Scaling groups
Build scaling policies that keep applications responsive under load and cost-efficient when demand drops.
Monitor with CloudWatch alarms
Create metrics, dashboards, and alarms with the right thresholds, and route notifications to the right responders.
Enforce IAM least privilege
Design roles, policies, and permission boundaries that give every workload and person exactly the access they need.
Design backups and failover
Plan retention, test restores, and run multi-region failover drills so recovery works when it matters.
Control cloud spend
Analyze spend with Cost Explorer, right-size resources, and apply savings plans that fit your usage.
Run incident runbooks
Follow and improve on-call runbooks, from alert triage to failover execution and post-incident review.
Teams that Benefit from this AWS SysOps Group Training
Built for cloud operations, platform, DevOps, and IT infrastructure teams that own AWS workloads. Whether your team is formalizing operations or tightening reliability and cost control, content adapts to role and experience so each cohort practices the workflows it owns.
Run AWS estates with fewer incidents and calmer on-call
Cloud operations teams standardize deployments, monitoring, and runbooks across accounts, cutting incident time and giving every on-call shift the same reliable baseline.
Workflow friction
- Deployments vary by engineer and account
- Alerts arrive without clear ownership
- Failover plans sit untested in wikis
How the program helps
- Standardize stacks with templates
- Route alarms with runbook links
- Drill failover until it is routine
Practice use cases
- Template deployment drills
- Alarm tuning exercises
- Failover runbook practice
Ship self-service platforms your developers trust
Platform engineers build the paved road for AWS delivery. Standardized templates, guardrails, and cost visibility help product teams ship faster without breaking reliability or budgets.
Workflow friction
- Teams provision resources by hand
- No guardrails on new accounts
- Cost surprises land after month end
How the program helps
- Publish reusable CloudFormation templates
- Enforce guardrails with Config rules
- Expose cost dashboards per team
Practice use cases
- Template library labs
- Guardrail policy builds
- Cost dashboard workshops
Connect delivery pipelines to solid operations
DevOps engineers bridge builds and production. Deployment automation, observability, and incident practice turn fragile releases into routine, recoverable operations.
Workflow friction
- Releases work but rollbacks are scary
- Monitoring added after incidents
- Secrets and access grow unchecked
How the program helps
- Automate safe, reversible deployments
- Instrument services before launch
- Tighten IAM with regular reviews
Practice use cases
- Blue-green deploy labs
- Dashboard build sessions
- IAM review exercises
Modernize on-prem operations for the cloud
Infrastructure teams moving workloads to AWS learn cloud-native operations. Backup strategies, network design, and compliance controls map familiar disciplines onto AWS services.
Workflow friction
- On-prem runbooks do not map to AWS
- Backup and restore untested in cloud
- Compliance evidence hard to gather
How the program helps
- Translate runbooks to AWS services
- Automate backups with policies
- Collect audit trails continuously
Practice use cases
- Backup restore drills
- VPC design labs
- Audit trail workshops
Each cohort works through role-relevant scenarios, then leaves with reusable runbooks and templates for day-to-day work.
Prerequisites: This program benefits cloud operations, platform, DevOps, and infrastructure teams that own AWS workloads. Basic familiarity with cloud concepts and the Linux command line helps, but is not required. No prior AWS operations experience is needed: content adapts to each cohort's accounts, regions, and services.
Cloud Operations Engineer to AWS SysOps Lead
The program moves engineers from foundational AWS operations to advanced, production-ready SysOps practice across eight guided modules.
One program that grows with cloud operations careers, from AWS basics to confident production practice.
