Program Overview: What is Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and OpenTofu?
Infrastructure as Code with Terraform & OpenTofu is a 24-hour corporate training program for engineers who need fluency in both the industry standard and its open-source successor. It covers HCL essentials, Terraform workflow and state management, reusable modules, drift control, and testing, policy, and CI for IaC. Labs run on both tools throughout.
Training works in both tools side by side. Participants write HCL, manage state, compose reusable modules, fight drift, and run IaC through testing and CI pipelines, first in Terraform then in OpenTofu. Instructors review both versions for parity and safety, coaching on migration between the two. Every lab is checked for correctness in both tools before moving on. The program closes with a capstone: a production-ready cloud environment.
The Terraform license change left teams uncertain: stay, or move to OpenTofu? This program ends the debate by teaching both, so engineers write portable IaC and choose tools on merit rather than habit. Portable skills, portable infrastructure, no lock-in anxiety.
The capstone is a production-ready cloud environment. Each team builds the same environment twice, once in Terraform and once in OpenTofu: networking, compute, state backends, drift controls, and CI pipelines, with a migration plan between the two. Both versions are graded on identical production criteria: safe applies, clean state, no drift. The team proves their infrastructure is tool-portable, and takes home the migration playbook their organization needs.
Every module pairs concept delivery with a guided lab, so employees practice on infrastructure patterns that mirror their own cloud estate. The capstone has each learner provision a full multi-tier environment from modules, with a plan-review pipeline and runbook. Content adapts to your cloud accounts, module standards, and approval workflows.

Where this Training Fits in Your Team's learning path.
Infrastructure as code follows DevOps fundamentals, giving your team a repeatable way to build the environments pipelines deploy into. Multi-cloud work then reuses that code across providers, and platform engineering packages it for developers.
