Program Overview: What is Supplier Quality Management?
Supplier Quality Management is a 24-hour instructor-led program for quality engineers, procurement teams, and operations managers responsible for bought-in quality. It covers supplier quality foundations, supplier evaluation and qualification, incoming quality and inspection, and supplier audits with corrective action. Participants also learn to monitor supplier performance over time.
The program runs as six sessions that pair instructor briefings with quality working labs on realistic supplier data. Participants design qualification criteria, build inspection plans, analyze defect trends, and write corrective-action requests that suppliers can actually answer. An instructor with manufacturing quality experience coaches each lab and challenges weak acceptance logic. The final session is the capstone: each team builds an end-to-end supplier quality program and defends it against quality-system scrutiny.
Poor supplier quality shows up late: defects found in production, warranty claims rising, customers noticing first. The program teaches teams to qualify suppliers before awarding business, control incoming quality with evidence-based inspection, and close the loop with corrective action that sticks. They return preventing defects upstream: suppliers qualified, quality monitored, escapes traced to root cause.
The capstone is a full end-to-end supplier quality program for a realistic product supply base: qualification scorecards, incoming inspection plans, audit schedules, a corrective-action workflow, and performance dashboards. Teams defend the design the way a quality auditor would probe it, so the program they take back is already built to withstand challenge.
Across six modules, participants move from quality foundations to supplier evaluation, incoming inspection, audits with 8D corrective action, performance scorecards, and a capstone where they design a complete supplier quality program. Every module includes guided practice, so teams leave with templates and skills they can use on their next supplier engagement.
