Program Overview: What is REST API Design and Development?
REST API Design & Development is Edstellar's instructor-led technical program for backend developers, full-stack engineers, and platform teams building HTTP APIs. Participants master REST foundations and HTTP essentials, resource modeling and payload design, endpoint construction, and API security with authentication and rate limiting. The program also covers testing, documentation, and observability for APIs in production.
Every module pairs concepts with a guided lab. Participants model resources and design payloads, build and secure endpoints, write tests and documentation, and add observability to a working API. Instructors review code and design decisions at each step, coaching the team toward production habits with direct feedback. The program closes with a capstone build: the team plans, codes, secures, and presents a production-style REST API.
Many teams ship APIs that work in demos but strain in production: inconsistent resource models, weak auth, and documentation written as an afterthought. This program teaches your engineers to design clean REST contracts, secure endpoints properly, and document and observe APIs from day one. Your APIs become easier to consume, safer to expose, and cheaper to maintain.
The capstone is a production-style API the team plans, codes, secures, and presents end to end, with tests, docs, and observability in place. Your engineers return with a shared design vocabulary and a reference implementation they can point to when the next API project lands.
Six modules and 24 hours: HTTP and design foundations, data modeling, endpoint construction, security controls, and testing, documentation, and observability. Every module pairs concepts with a guided lab, so each technique is practiced. It closes with a capstone build the team plans, codes, secures, and presents.
Delivery is hybrid across virtual and onsite sessions, scheduled around your calendar. Cohorts train as one group or split into batches, with session materials and lab guides included for every participant.

Teams that Benefit from this REST API Design and Development Group Training
This group training is built for engineering teams designing, building, or integrating REST APIs who want consistent quality without slowing delivery. Content adapts to each cohort’s roles, stack, and experience, so every batch practices the workflows it owns, from modeling to operations.
Ship APIs your consumers trust.
Backend developers learn to design consistent resources, enforce validation, and document contracts before code ships.
Workflow friction
